Eva Dee Barnes, 88, of Jonesboro, died Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She had lived in Jonesboro most of her life. Dee was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ. She loved painting, quilting, and cooking. Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Barnes; her parents, W. O. “Orland” and Della Dickinson Melton; brother, Billy Melton; sister-in-law, Joan Melton; and great granddaughter, Emily Whitmire.
Survivors include her sons, Ron Barnes (Cheryl) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dale Barnes (Dottie) of Jonesboro; brother, Jerry Melton (Marie) of Dermott, Arkansas; grandchildren, Rhonda Crandall, Kevin Barnes, Hollie Barnes, Steve Whitmire and Mark Whitmire; and 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Kenneth Gossett and Ben Honeycutt officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Stacy Miser, Aaron Honeycutt, Bill Montgomery, Malcom Oliver, Bob Brice and Danny Merritt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time.
