Eugene Russell

On Friday morning, October 23, 2015, Carl Eugene Russell found himself looking full in the wonderful face of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He passed quietly into eternity from his home in Brookland, AR, the climax to a long and fruitful life of ministry and faith. He was born January 22, 1933 to the late Brody and Etta Russell in Bay, AR.

Eugene attended Friendship Assembly of God church. He was ordained to the ministry on August 15, 1974. He continued to preach the word of God, and do pastoral and evangelistic work for the next 40 years.
His work on this earth was of eternal value, and because of that his memory and the influence of his life remains.

He was greeted in glory by his soul mate and wife of 64 years, JoAnn Russell; his parents, Brody and Etta Russell; brothers, Elmo Russell, L.B. Russell, Waylon Russell, Dolphis Russell, Donald Russell, and Jerry Russell; and one daughter, Lisa Annette Russell.

Those left to cherish his memory are brothers, Bobby Russell and Willard Russell of Jonesboro, Dale Russell of Hardy; sisters Betty Gibson, Brenda Fletcher, and Christine Grimes of Jonesboro; three daughters, Deborah and Rick Summers of Jonesboro, Lois Ann and Doug Jones of Jonesboro, and Theresa and Rick Carter of Jonesboro; three sons, Lloyd Russell of Waldron, Tim and Tonya Russell of Waldron and Marty and Karen Russell of Brookland; 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. For the past months, Eugene was lovingly cared for by aide Ms. Eddie Scaife.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home with Brother Tim and Marty Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with active pallbearers being Eric Russell, Chad Russell, Michael Jones, Aaron Russell, Nick Carter, Zach Russell, and Dewayne Ohler. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons-in-law.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home.
