Ethridge L. Carter

March 15, 1926 — October 15, 2011

Ethridge L. Carter, 85, of Jonesboro, died October 15, 2011 in Pine Bluff. He was born in Chewalla, Tennessee but had lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He liked to hunt and fish and was of the Baptist belief. He was a veteran of of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Ethridge also served in the Arkansas National Guard for 30 years.

He is survived by his sons, Billy Carter, Chris Carter, Scottie Carter; daughters, Julie Carter, Patty Carter Birdsong, both of Jonesboro; nephews, Charles Onstead, Jonesboro, Bobby Lamberson, Bay; and nieces, Betty Onstead Collins, Trumann, and Janice Lamberson, Senath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leon Carter and Rachel Carter Perry; brother, James Perry; sisters, Rosa Lee Carter Onstead, Marie Carter Bayer; son, Ronnie Carter; and a daughter, Sharon Carter Neeley.

Private graveside services for the family will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation.
