Esther Emily Ramien

Esther Emily Ramien, 99, passed away Saturday, May 27, at Lakeside Nursing & Rehab in Lake City. She was born in St. Anne, Illinois on May 21, 1918 to the late Fred M. and Cynthia Benjamin Davis.

She worked as a secretary for Eli Lilly & Co. in Indiana and also for Westinghouse Corp. in Maryland where her husband Harold was a Field Engineer. She later traveled with him on field assignments in several different states, where she pursued her interests in various needlework projects and reading. She and Harold retired to Bourbonnais, IL where they lived for several years before moving to Jonesboro in 2002. Always an avid sports fan, she enjoyed being able to see some of her great-grandchildren’s sports events---when she wasn’t watching her favorite teams, especially the Chicago Cubs, on TV. She and Harold were members of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, a brother Wilman E. Davis, a sister Opal Keller, and a nephew Stephen Davis.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie (Kent) Kelly, granddaughter Kim (Greg) Laffoon, grandson Brian (Michelle) Kelly; great-grandchildren Charla (Jeff) Hart, Kyle (Meredith) Kelly, Clint (Keelie) Simpson, and Trace Laffoon; seven great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving her, are a sister-in-law Margaret Davis, nephew J.R. (Diana) Davis, nieces Cynthia Davis, Marilee Davis, and Suzanne (Steve) Guillebeau.

Esther and her family are also very grateful and appreciative for her faithful, kind and thoughtful friends and caregivers the last years of her life.

Visitation will be at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 pm Friday, June 2, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home with Russell Shewmaker officiating.
Pallbearers are Brian Kelly, Kyle Kelly, Clint Simpson, Trace Laffoon, Jeff Hart and Jim Dunton. Interment will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
