E.S. Cockrum Jr., 86, of Jonesboro passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.
E.S. was born on September 20, 1928 in Lunsford to the late Edison Stanford and Mary Mable Swindle Cockrum. He served our country with the U.S. Army during the World War II and Korean War. He retired with 31 years of service from Colson Casters. He was a very soft spoken person, and was also a man of very few words. His hobbies included singing and playing dominos. He loved being with his family, especially the time he got with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Culbreath and Bertha Swindle.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Cockrum of the home; three daughters, Regina Limber (Andy) of Heber Springs, Donna Faught and Lori Bounds (Eddie) Both of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Tara Bowdler, Victoria Nordin, Brooks Bailey, Jessica Coulter, Tyler, Spencer, Noah, and Nicholas Bounds; ten great grandchildren; and three nieces, Joyce Brewer, Carolyn Parnell, and Lawanda Waters.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 3pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Dwayne Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery with Military Honors and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Pallbearers will be Tyler Bounds, Brooks Bailey, Spencer Bounds, Mike Wellman, Eddie Bounds, and Steve Bowdler.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4-6pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
