Ernestine Roberts

June 12, 1931 — December 4, 2005

Ernestine Roberts, 74 of Jonesboro, died Sunday at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born in Mt. Herman, Louisiana and lived in Jonesboro for 3 months. She was of the Baptist belief, and retired cook for Mules Restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Survivors include her husband Bennie Roberts Sr., of the home; four sons; Bennie Roberts Jr. Chester Roberts, Ivory Roberts Sr. and Michael Roberts, all of New Orleans, Louisiana. Three daughters; Melinda Doughty, Barbara Smith, and Scholanda Roberts all of New Orleans, Louisiana. One sister; Katherine Henry of Albany, Louisiana. Twenty seven grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Maggie Bickmen Smith, one son John Roberts, one sister Lucinda Smith, and one grandson Ivory Mannings.

Funeral service will be Saturday December 10, 2005 at the Stateline Baptist Church 9056 Stateline road, Osyka, Mississippi, with the Rev. Ophale Jefferson officiating. Burial will be at the Stateline Cemetery in Osyka, Mississippi

Active pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be sons.

We would like to thank the patients and staff at St. Bernard’s dialysis center for making our Mama feel at home.

Thanks to the people of Main Street Church of Christ in Walnut Ridge for all of your love and support when we first arrive in Arkansas, with our mother from New Orleans.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time Saturday at the church.
