Ernestine C. Layton

Ernestine Cody Layton, 78, of Trumann, Ark., passed from this life on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Ernestine grew up in Shannon, Mississippi then moved to Memphis. She later moved to Harrisburg, Ark., where she lived many years before moving to Trumann five years ago. She was retired from Suntana Manufacturing in Jonesboro where she worked in office management. Ernestine was a member of the Baptist Church and belonged to the Pleasant Hill Quilting Club while living in Harrisburg.

Ernestine was a member of the Pleasant Grove Extension Homemakers Club where she was treasurer; Daughters of the American Revolution and served as chapter secretary for United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Roger Cody and Madie Irene Moreland Cody, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Survivors include numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces and great, great nephews and great, great nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
