Emmett Dean Ross, age 81, of Jonesboro passed away on Thursday December 8, 2016 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. He was born in Rosie, AR to Jess and Margie Stewart on August 8, 1935.
Emmett retired from Hazel, Inc., (manufacturer of office products to the advertising industry) in Washington, MO as Vice President of Marketing and served on the board of directors. He served on the Promotional Products Advertising International Assn. Board in Irving, TX for 5 years, one as chairman, was a member of the National Premium Sales Executives and the St. Louis Advertising Specialty Assn. During his career he traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, England and Canada.
He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Blue Lodge in Washington, MO and the Mystic Shrine in St. Louis, a member of the Scottish Rite in S. Louis and Methodist Church in Pocahontas, AR.
He retired from the business industry in 1989 and purchased a cattle farm near Pocahontas, AR., then moved to Jonesboro in 2006 due to ill health. He enjoyed the cattle farm, gardening, playing golf, reading and watching football. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, he loved them so. His legacy as a loving father, grandfather and husband will be remembered always by his family. Business associates will remember him for his integrity, honesty, hard work and sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Peggy Farrar Ross, daughter Gina Ross of Cumming, GA, two grandchildren Maggie Adams (Clay) of Sugar Hill, GA, one grandson Ross Beard (Rebecca) of Colorado Springs, CO. Three great grandchildren Weston, Emerson and Braylon Adams all of Sugar Hill, GA. Two half-sisters Jessanita White, Arizona and Ellen Trahan, Oregon. Last, but not least his beloved dog Beau. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gena Ross.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Pettus officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
