Emma Jo Green of Jonesboro, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the age of 84. She was born February 15,1937 to the late Joseph Chester “Chet” and Doily Diamond Hope in Doniphan, Missouri and was a graduate of Doniphan High School.
Emma earned Specialist Degree degree in education attending University of Missouri and Arkansas State University. She was an educator at several different places and enjoyed teaching. Emma was a member of the Forrest Home Church of the Nazarene in Jonesboro and in the Red Hats Society Club and Eastern Star. Emma had several hobbies including an avid reader, crafts, puzzles, knitting, cooking, reading the bible, going traveling when she had the chance, playing boards games and beating everyone, and listening to Neil Diamond and Charlie Pride.
In addition to her parents Emma was preceded in death by her son Preston Leroy and grandson Arlin Green.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Diane (Wayne) Menley of Newport, Teresa Visser of Diaz, and Margaret Hale of Jonesboro; two sisters, Barbara Fry of Cape Girardeau, MO, Virginia Tyson of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren, Emily (Terry) Babb, Kristina (Joe) Pratt, Andrew Green, David Williams, Julian Green, Tristan (Erin) Gately-Sweatt, and Alyssa Hale; and seven great-grandchildren.
Family will be holding a memorial service at a later time.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked to please consider donations to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
