Elwyn Hall Reuteler, departed this planet August 27, 2009. She was the loving wife of Lt. Colonel Bruce Reuteler and the mother of Bruce Douglas Reuteler and Bryan Daniel Reuteler. After traveling halfway around the world with her husband in the U.S. Air Force and volunteering in Air Force Hospitals, as an Aide, she decided to enter nursing training upon her husband’s retirement. She graduated with the second Nursing Class of Arkansas State University. She became a Public Health Nurse with the Craighead County Health Department upon graduation. For 15 years she enjoyed helping patients, until she suffered injuries in an automobile accident while en route to providing nursing services to patients in Monette. Elwyn was loved by everyone who had the good fortune to come into contact with her.
She is survived by her two sons, Bruce Douglas Reuteler and Bryan Daniel Reuteler, both of Jonesboro; one sister Dr. Elizabeth Young of Lexington, Kentucky; and two sisters-in-law Betty Reuteler and Peggy Dowl.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Colonel Bruce Reuteler; a brother, Dr. James Hall; and two sisters, Geraldine Renick and Dell Fox.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Jesse Perkins officiating. Burial will be private.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Edmond Barnette, Joan Griffin, Celia Johnson, Jeanette Lamberth, Dr. Ben Owens Jr., Marcia Patton, and Maxine Shultz.
