Elois Tate, 84, of Nixa, Missouri passed from this earth on Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was born on October 7, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas, the daughter of Hugh and Artie Smith. Elois married Elbert Tate in Bozeman, MT October 15, 1988. She was a member of the Nixa Church of Christ and enjoyed making greeting cards with her church group and they would send those cards to the sick and grieving. Elois also enjoyed oil painting, making flower arrangements, and staying busy. In addition to her parents, Elois is also preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Shirley; brothers, Wesley Smith and Danny Smith.
Elois is survived by her husband, Elbert Tate of Nixa, Missouri; sister, Ina Mae Johnson of Wichita, Kansas and Verna Sue Calkins of Hastings, Nebraska; and a brother, Wilson Smith of Denver, Colorado. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Bono Church of Christ with Jim Sneed and Tony Sauser officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Bono with the active pallbearers being Dennis Clem, Kiley Dement, Mickey Dement, Gaylon Tate, Randy Tate, and Wayne Tate.
The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Emerson Funeral Home. In consideration of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Children’s Home Inc, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
