Elmer Lee Tipton

April 8, 1921 — May 14, 2012

Elmer Lee Tipton, 91, of Jonesboro, died May 15, 2012, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born in Jonesboro and had lived his entire life here. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a veteran of the Air Force. He was retired from Central Chevrolet where he was a mechanic. He loved deer hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He enjoyed having coffee with the boys at McDonalds. He especially loved his rescued dogs, Abigail and Oscar.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Agnes Tipton of the home; his daughter, Sheila Tipton of Jonesboro; his brother, Doyle Tipton of Detroit Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor & Ruth Reece Tipton, and a brother, Charles Tipton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Mark Abban officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Paul Hockle, Barry Forrest, Robert Zachary, Bill Gott, Tom Gschwend, and Matt Butler.

Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
