Elmer Lee (E.L.) Wilson

Elmer Lee (E.L.) Wilson, 75, of Jonesboro, died Saturday morning at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in the Dixie community, E.L. lived several years in Gilbertown, Alabama, before moving to Jonesboro 10 years ago.

He was a retired wholesale meat salesman for many years and was a U.S. Army veteran.
E.L. was a member of the Caraway Masonic Lodge and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Wilson; a grandson, Joshua Ferguson; his parents, Don and Mae Newboles Wilson; 2 Stepchildren, Terrell Bozeman and Tammy Bozeman; by a brother, G. J. Wilson; and by a sister, Jeweldeen Adams.

Survivors include a special devoted friend of 10 years, Betty Watkins of Jonesboro;
1 daughter, Lee Ann McCollum and her devoted friend, Lefty Collins, both of Southside, Alabama;
1 son and his wife, Brent and Elaine Wilson of Tampa, Florida;
1 brother and his wife, Carl and Bridgette Wilson of Harrisburg;
3 grandchildren; Jeffrey Ferguson, Justin Watson, Michael McCollum, Amanda Williams and Erica Wilson

Betty’s family who became E.L.’s family: Pam and Wiley Ward and their daughter Kembralyn Ligons and her fiance Philip Redmon, and Kohen Ligons, all of Jonesboro.

A memorial service was held Saturday evening at the Jonesboro Senior Citizens Center. Private burial will be in Caraway Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.
