Ellen Louise Wilson, 68, of Jonesboro, formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born on July 8, 1956, in East Liverpool to the late James and Freda Smith.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ellen lived a life full of compassion, laughter, and service. She retired after many dedicated years as a cook and bus monitor with the Valley View School District.
In 2006, Ellen made Jonesboro her home and became an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. She served faithfully as the Sunday School Secretary and was always willing to lend a helping hand in church activities and events.
Ellen had a gift for finding joy in the simple things—whether it was spending time outdoors camping or fishing, browsing flea markets and yard sales, collecting crystals, or watching movies with her husband, Owen. Her beloved Yorkie, Lucy, was her constant companion and brought her endless comfort and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Danny Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 19 years, Owen Wilson of the home; her daughter, Ambrea Owens (Hadley) of Jonesboro; two brothers, Emmit Smith (Lan) of Florida and Richard Smith (Karen) of Ohio; two sisters, Jewel Knappenberger (Paul) of Pennsylvania and Glenda Chapman of Jonesboro; her precious granddaughter, Tori Foushee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with a celebration of Ellen’s life beginning at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.
