Ellen L. Brewer

Ellen L. Cook Brewer, 95, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, in the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Harrisburg, Ellen lived most of her life in the Jonesboro area. She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and LaVera Beauty School. Ellen was a homemaker and member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Ellen enjoyed crocheting, painting, playing cards with her women's church group and working puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry R. and Rosie Essie Hill Cook; her husband of 49 years, Merl Lane Brewer, and 2 sisters: Betty Jean Gwyn and Emily Harris.

The family wishes to extend deepest appreciation and Thanks to two special friends: Marion Morgan of Harrisburg and Hellen Rowland of Jonesboro. In addition Thanks is given to Dr. Ben Owens, Jr. and the professional staff and employees of Clopton Clinic, Jonesboro Healthcare and the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for the exceptional care given to Ellen.

Survivors include 2 sisters and brother-in-law: Dena Campbell of Jonesboro and June and Charles LaFleur of Granberry, Texas; and
many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chris Hemund officiating. Entombment will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30-2:00 Thursday, prior to the service.

Active pallbearers include Vince Mahon, Jeff Mahon, Buster Campbell, Keith Campbell, Benny Campbell, David Felts, David Thorne, Wayne Brewer and Charles Harris. Honorary pallbearers include all of Merl and Ellen's nephews and nieces.
