Ellen Gray Hurt

Ellen Gray ‘Cissy” Meroney Hurt , beloved mother of Bill Hurt, Jr. and wife Sue, of Jonesboro, Rodger Hurt and wife Shirley, of Mountain Home, and Porter Hurt and wife Dana of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, April 20, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rex Dickey officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Dan White, Mark Zimmer, Gary Curtis, Jimmy Casey, Stan Gott, and Mark Flemon. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the funeral home.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and for many years was an active member of the Ladies Golf Association at the Jonesboro Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hurt, Sr.

Survivors in addition to her children include grandchildren Blant Hurt, Mallory Johnston, Rodger Hurt, Jay Hurt, Gray Hurt, Jessie Hurt all of Jonesboro, and Katlyn Hurt of Las Cruses, NM, and 7 great-grandchildren.
