Ella Mae Gilmer

Ella Mae Gilmer, 81, of Jonesboro died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at her residence.

Ella was born on June 23, 1933 to the late Thomas and Annie Garrett. She was a homemaker for several years before joining the workforce where she worked as a C.N.A. for Live Oaks Nursing Home, NEA Baptist Hospital, and HealthSouth. She loved being with her family, and her hobbies included going to yard sales and spoiling her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Gilmer; son, David Michael Gilmer; sister, Martha Pearl Mercer.

She is survived by two daughters, Helen Jones (Roger) of Hornersville and Margaret Newsom (Greg) of Goobertown; two sons, Bud and Bill Gilmer both of Jonesboro; sister, Betty Barnett of Caruthersville, MO; brother, Jimmy Garrett of Jefferson City, MO; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00pm Friday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Davidson officiating, and burial at Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers are Scott, Brian, Matthew Gilmer, Joe and Donnie Barnett, and Shane Copeland. Honorary Pallbearers are Greg and Andrew Newsom, Roger Jones, Steven Duffy, and Brad Wade.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
