Elizabeth Laura Smith

April 17, 1980 — June 2, 2025

Elizabeth Laura Smith, 45, of Jonesboro, Ark., entered into Heaven on Monday, June 2, 2025.  She was born April 17, 1980, in Memphis, Tenn., and was named for her aunt Laura Padan Sagers, and her grandmother Elizabeth Smith, with whom she shared a birthday with for 15 years.

She is survived by her parents, Lindley Van Smith Jr., and Susan Padan Smith of the home, and three siblings: Jonathan Lindley Smith (Anna), Stephen Lynn Smith (Rachel), and Caroline Smith Borgstadt (Sam), all of Nashville, Tenn. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Lindley Kate Smith, Holland Elizabeth Smith, Barrett Padan Smith, Hudson Lee Smith, and Bridger Cole Borgstadt; her uncle Frank Lynn Padan, III. (Christina), her aunt Laura Padan Sagers (Paul), and her uncle Bill Provence. Elizabeth is also survived by cousins Van (Katey) and Loren Provence; Paul (Leslie), Emily and Will Provence; Rob Provence, Katherine (David), Galen and Hayden McGlynn, Julian Sagers, and Harrison and Alec Padan.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents Lindley Van Smith Sr., Elizabeth Rossington Smith, Frank Lynn Padan Jr., and Marcella Cox Padan, her aunt Annabelle Smith Provence and cousin Trey Sagers.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior and was baptized in 2003.  Although her physical limitations were great, Elizabeth was blessed with a love and awareness for life.  She shared an abundance of experiences and activities with friends and family, including serving as a bridesmaid in four weddings and as the maid of honor for her sister Caroline. Her spirit has always been whole – full of the life and joy of Jesus Christ.

Her immediate and extended Arkansas family were very present in her life and she loved spending time with cousins Van and Katey Provence and Paul, Leslie, Emily and Will Provence.

Many wonderful caregivers were a part of Elizabeth’s life, most recently including Julia Swanner, who provided 38 years of love and care, the late Franschell Love, Christine Moore and Lacrisha Russell. Other loving caregivers included Robyn Hodges, Candy Wray, Angie Culver, Angela Burton and countless others over the years.

A Celebration of Life Worship service will be held Friday, June 6, at 10 a.m., at Fellowship Jonesboro, located at 1801 Woodsprings Road, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m., at Gracelawn Cemetery in Tuckerman.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Smith, Stephen Smith, Sam Borgstadt, Van Provence, Paul Provence and Will Provence.
