Elizabeth Ann Hooper Phillips, "Betty," of Jonesboro passed from this life on April 15, 2014 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House with her son and daughter by her side. She was 70 years old.
Betty was born in the Panama Canal Zone on October 6, 1943 to the late Rector Clay Hooper M.D. and Ann Elaine Bohan Hooper. Her family moved to Jonesboro when she was six years old and she lived here until moving to Hawaii for college. After college she moved to California where she lived and raised her two children. Betty earned her Masters of Divinity from the University of San Diego and loved to share her gifts working with children in religious eduction. Betty returned to Jonesboro in 2002 when she retired and rejoined Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She is survived by one son, Anthony Phillips and his wife Diane of Columbia, MO and one daughter, Elaine Ferguson and her husband Jason of Tempe, AZ.
A memorial service will be at 10am, Good Friday April 18, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Mike Sinkler officiating. Burial will then be held at Holy Cross Cemetery after the service.
