Elizabeth "Betty" Lee Clark Runnels

July 15, 1926 — March 19, 2014

Elizabeth “Betty” Lee Clark Runnels, 87, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Jonesboro Health and Rehab. She had lived in Jonesboro since 1970, moving here from Paragould. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro and had served as a deacon of the church. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Organization, and avid bridge player and loved gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Runnels; one son, Stephen Runnels; brothers, Carl Clark, and Mendell Clark; parents, Claud and Elois Clark.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Runnels Puryear (Bobby) of Jonesboro; Carol Runnels Welch (Jerry) of Counce, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Runnels of Forrest City; sister, Jean Copeland of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and a special friend of the family, Jane Jamison.

A memorial service will be 11:00 Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Dr. Chris Jones and Eulogist Donn Mixon officiating and organist Harriett O’Neal. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday. Burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 21, 2014 at Bollinger County Cemetery in Marble Hill, Missouri.
