Eleanore Eakins Nance

January 5, 1925 — May 24, 2010

Eleanore Leona Eakins Nance, 85, of Lake City, died Monday evening at her home of natural causes.

Born in Chicago, Eleanore moved to Lake City in 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City where she was active in two Sunday school classes: the Early Morning class and the Senior Ladies class. Eleanore was also active in the Lake City Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her first husband: Joe Eakins, her second husband: Henry Nance, by her parents: Lawrence and Mary Francis Jacolik Powaga, and 14 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Sonja and Ardell Boatman of Lake City;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Rick and Sara Eakins of Pacific, Washington;

A sister-in-law: Christine Eakins of Lake City;

5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at First Baptist Church in Lake City with Rev. Greg Rainwater officiating. Burial will follow in Lake City Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers include Tommy Eakins, Terry Stotts, Carl Rogers, Dennis Murphy, Jim Robertson, Mike Hook, Casey Hook and Garrett Weaver.

Honorary pallbearers include the members of the Early Morning Sunday school class and the Senior Ladies Sunday school class.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6-8, at First Baptist Church in Lake City.
