Elbert Lee Hawkins, 80, of Jonesboro died Wednesday at St. Bernards Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1971, moving from Manila. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Hawkins, of the home; one son, Mackie Hawkins and wife Karen of Conyers, Georgia; one daughter Carol Byrd and husband Mickey of Jonesboro; one sister, Bertha Hightower of Jonesboro; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kerrie, Shannon, Dustie, Paige, Sherry, and Shannon Hawkins, Jr; Zaysia Hollis; Jennifer, Brian, Tyler, and Cole Morgan; Byron, C.J., LeAndrea, and Haylie Bradley; Mark, Caden, and Natasha Byrd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Hawkins; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Jolly, Thurman Holt, and Waymon Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
