Eileen Powell

April 10, 1926 — March 16, 2007

Eileen Powell, 80, of Jonesboro died Friday, March 16, 2007 at Craighead County Nursing Center. She lived most of her life in the Nettleton area and also lived in Hardy from 1978 until 1985. She was a member of Wood Street Assembly of God Church and taught Sunday School at First Assembly of God church for fifteen years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Powell and one brother Herman Furnish.

She is survived by sons, Gary Furnish and wife Phyllis, Jonesboro; Mike Powell and wife Diane, Brookland, Arkansas; Gaylon Powell and wife Bobbie, DeKalb Illinois; and one daughter, Judy Reeves, Memphis, Tennessee. Also surviving are one brother Thomas Furnish, Loves Park, Illinois; four sisters Iris Walker, Trumann; Kathleen Walker, Rockford Illinois; Hazel Moon, Bay, Arkansas; Auda Bell Moon, Trumann; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 19, 2007 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Vernie Harris and Brother Cass Ledbetter officiating and burial to follow at Nettleton Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Larry Allred, Eric Davis, Jeff Reese, John Reese, Delbert Reeves, and Jeremy Waymon. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Reeves and Harold Snider.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Craighead County Nursing Center for their loving and tender care.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8:30 Sunday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
