Effie Marjorie Hathcoat, 84, of rural Brookland, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020, at her residence.
Born in Mickey, Tennessee, Effie moved to Craighead County at an early age and lived most of her life in the Bay-Brookland area. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and enjoyed going to the family cabin in Ravenden Springs. Effie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, and canning. She also enjoying watching basketball games and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleroy Hathcoat; son Richard Hathcoat; 2 grandchildren T.J. Hathcoat and Ashley Albert; 1 great grandson Dalton Lukas Albert; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include 4 daughters and sons-in-law: Jeanene and Dennis Albert, and Sandra and Greg Johnson all of Jonesboro, Melinda and Paul Vincent of Cherokee Village, and Angie and Kevin Brown of Brookland;
2 sons and daughters-in-law: Tim and Janet Hathcoat of Paragould and Mark and Sherry Hathcoat of Jonesboro;
Daughter-in-law, Renee Hathcoat of Jonesboro;
1 sister, Dorothy Webb of Jonesboro;
14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Prospect Baptist Church, 1603 N. Ark. 351 in Jonesboro with Paul Vincent and Mike Book officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 9:30-11:00 a.m.at the church.
Active pallbearers include Chris Hathcoat, Bryan Albert, Wesley Hathcoat, Eric Hathcoat, Cheston Vincent and Aaron Robinson. Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Albert, Greg Johnson, Paul Vincent and Kevin Brown.
