Obituary

Edward Gill was born on November 3, 1930, in Wilmington, Delaware. He lived, worked, and married in Delaware before moving to the Midwest, specifically the Chicago area, in 1958. He attended night school for 12 years and graduated in 1963 from DePaul University in Chicago with an accounting degree, while raising four young children.

Ed worked as a comptroller before becoming General Manager at Colson Casters and moving to Jonesboro in 1975, where he worked until retiring in 1996. Ed traveled the world for work, visiting England, Ireland, China, and Germany. He participated in the Senior Bowling League for 15 years and enjoyed caring for and working in his yard. He loved sports and was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents, Ed and Margaret Gill; and his brother, Don Gill.

Ed is survived by his four children, Mary Jo Turner (Henry), Anne Marie Domek (Bob), Ed Gill (Kaye), and Barbara Gill Bailey (Mark); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Over the past four years, Ed enjoyed his special friends Mark, Tim, and Bobby.

A memorial service will be held at Emerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 am. A visitation will precede the service from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Burial will be private.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Turner, Robert Turner, Mark Conley, Tim Craig, and Bobby Ruff.
