Edward Eugene Caldwell, 80, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024, at St. Bernards Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 25, 1943, in Jonesboro to the late George Ranson and Nina Esther Caldwell, Edward was a cherished member of his community.
After relocating from Chicago, Illinois, Edward made Jonesboro his home for the past 33 years. A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Edward's faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the military for 22 years, spending three years in the Air Force and the remaining 19 in the Navy, before retiring from the FAA.
Edward was a man of many passions. He found joy in woodworking, collecting movies, and exploring the world of computers. His creativity and curiosity knew no bounds.
In addition to his professional and personal pursuits, Edward was a loving husband to his wife of 45 years, Carmen Caldwell. He was a dedicated father to his son, Philip Caldwell, and daughter, Rebecca Caldwell, as well as a proud grandfather to their child, residing in California.
Edward will be deeply missed by his nieces, Sandra Herndon of Jonesboro and Lisa Creason of Wisconsin, nephews Chad Herndon of Jonesboro, Alfred Hart, and Brett Creason of Wisconsin, cousins Hilda Wilcox, Jennefer Wilcox, Karen Myers, and Christina Warrick, all of Jonesboro, and his sponsored children from the Philippines: Faye Dugan, Apple Lagunoy, Bon Laganoy, Roger Laganoy, Aldin Borres, and Alvin Borres.
Preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Edward leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Graveside services to honor and celebrate Edward's life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Caldwell Cemetery.
