Edra Elizabeth Hanks Nix

Edra Elizabeth Hanks Nix, 93, of Jonesboro, went to her heavenly Father on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1921 in Jonesboro to Charlie and Bertha (Knight) Hanks. She was an accomplished seamstress. She owned Little Additions Children’s Clothing in the 1980’s where she created many pageant dresses. She was the oldest living charter member of Victory General Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Edra was preceded in death by two husbands, Hubert Fuller and Homer P. Nix; her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include daughters, Paulette Nix-Snyder of Jonesboro and Huberda (Fuller) Craig of Indianapolis, Indiana; four granddaughters, Toni Brownell, Stacey Brigham, Chandra Craig, and Felicia (Hollis) Boyd; three great grandchildren, Christopher Politano, Aja Roome, and Maleah Davidson; four great great grandchildren, Shya Turner, Marlie Roome, Jax and Aiden Politano. She is also survived by her brother Buck Hanks of Joshua, Texas and Venita Johnson of Red Bluff, California; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Monday, January 12, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dale Blackwell and John Freeman officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Mike Hanks, Ronnie Knight, Robert Armstrong, David Marzewski, Stan Gott, and Jim Wilkins serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time on Monday.
