Edna Marie Sutton

December 29, 1934 — March 2, 2022

Edna Marie Sutton, 87, left her Earthly life to begin her new life on March 2, 2022. She was welcomed in that life by loving family members who were so very glad to see her again. Edna was born on December 29, 1934 to Marie J. Brady and Hugh M. Brady. Edna was their pride and joy. Edna loved and was loved by her parents, grandparents (Madeline & Thomas Haugh), great aunts (Edna & Evelyn McCormick), great uncle (Edward McCormick) and her little sisters (Frances, Ann, & Rose Marie). Edna was so happy to have her three little sisters and dearly loved each one of them. Edna lived in New Jersey all of her life until moving to Jonesboro, AR in 2016 to be near her remaining family.

Edna graduated from St. Anne’s Catholic Grammar School Jersey City, NJ in 1948. Edna graduated from St. Dominic Academy and had very high regard for the education she received there. She graduated from New Jersey State Teachers college in 1956. Edna taught elementary school in Morris County, NJ. She later worked in banking, retail, and health care. Edna retired from St. Clare Health System after working at St. Clare’s Denville Hospital and Franciscan Oaks Health Center.

Edna loved her pet beagles, Roger, Ben and Patty. They were her delight and brought years of happiness into her life. She took excellent care of them & loved them all their lives. Edna enjoyed feeding the chipmunks and squirrels on her back porch. They were daily visitors who depended on her kindness. They brought her many smiles.

Edna was influential in encouraging her young brother-in-law, Thomas Mulligan, to persevere in his medical school studies. Her encouragement was a key factor in his decision to continue his medical education. In Edna’s later years, Dr. Tom was a patient, caring provider of medical care to Edna.

Edna was baptized as an infant and was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Edna is survived by her sisters, Frances Brady of Benton and Rose Marie Mulligan (Thomas) of Jonesboro.

Forever our big sister. Forever loved. May your new life be full of love and joy.

“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away”

Revelations 21:4

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also.”

John 14: 1-3
