Edna Mae Howle Minga, 99, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at St. Elizabeth's Place in Jonesboro.
Edna was born July 4, 1914, in Charleston, Mississippi, in Talahatchie County to John Acy Howle and Sallie Elizabeth Holland Howle.
Edna grew up in Mississippi. She lived in Tyronza and Lake City before moving to the Prospect community in Jonesboro in 1951. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of Prospect Baptist Church and loved gardening, canning and quilting.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, William Sylvester Minga, 2 sons: Johnny Minga and Charles Minga, 2 grandsons: Timothy Haas and Stephen Minga, 2 brothers: Loyce Howle and Ellis Howle and 3 sisters: Evie Kerr, Mary Allison, and Robbie Allison.
Survivors include 1 son, Shirley Howle (Imogene) Minga of Trumann and 1 daughter, Sue Ellen (Paul) Haas of Jonesboro;
3 grandchildren: Kimberly Minga Johnson, Terrie Lynn Minga Adams and Chris Haas;
9 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mike Book and Bro. Larry Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Cody Thomas, Jared Adams, C.J. Johnson, John Rice, Johnny Birdsong, and Marty Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers include: Jerry Birdsong, Eddie Perdue,
Jr. Johnson and Wayne Smith.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
