Edna Jeanell Lantis

Edna Jeanell Lantis, 75, passed from this life on September 27, 2014 at NEA Baptist Hospital. She was born on August 1, 1939 in Athens, Alabama to the late Perry and Ruby Whitehead. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist church and Refuge General Baptist Church. Edna loved to sew, work for the Volunteer Auxiliary at NEA Baptist Hospital, and being with her grandchildren and children. She especially enjoyed going to the senior citizen dances with her friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; Perry and Ruby Whitehead, husband; Bill Lantis, 12 siblings, and one grandchild; Alison White.

Edna is survived by one son; Herman E. Rouse Jr.

Three daughters; Deborah Payton (Buddy), Sharon Holmes (Rickey), and Karen Eldridge (Tony).

One brother; Robert Whitehead.

Three sisters; Margret Clem, Dorothy Brown, and Peggy Anema.

Step-son; William Lantis Jr.

She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Shane West officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home in the Stateroom.
