Edith Wray Prater Jackson, Missouri passed from this life on August 21, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on October 15, 1932, grew up in Coldwater, Missouri and eventually settled down in Jackson, Misssouri until she passed. Edith was very active at the First Baptist Church in Jackson. She had a passion for animals and raised many dogs and cats throughout her lifetime. She was well known for her beautiful cakes and made hundreds of them throughout her lifetime for family, friends, and others. Edith enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, and gardening in her free time. She will be fondly remembered for the special times and Sunday dinners that she spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mary Wray, and her siblings, Arnold Wray (Goldie), Floyd Wray, Marvin Wray (Susan), Opal Graham (Junior), and Betty Nessmeyer (Larry).

Survivors include her children: Neil Prater (Beverly), Paula Johnston (Phil), Carla "CJ" Prater, and Berla Strong (Thomas). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dana Johnston, Jesse Saupe (Sara), Deanna Johnston, Amber Saupe, and Brandi Wallgren (Charlie), and her great-grandchildren: Madeline Johnston, Gavin Saupe, Blake Saupe, Beck Johnston, Kaitlyn Saupe, Annabelle Johnston, and Oliver Wallgren.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, a public visitation or memorial for Edith will not be held and services will be for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105 and/or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128-6804
