Edie Marie Grayson

Edie Marie Grayson, 61, of Jonesboro, left this earthly home to be with the Lord Friday, September 11, 2020 at St. Bernard’s Hospital. She was born in Jonesboro on April 2, 1959, to Gene and Theda Jones. She traveled the world with her military family as a child, before settling in the Valley View community for her adult life.

Edie graduated from Valley View High School in 1977 and later joined the staff there working in the cafeteria. One of her greatest joys was saying “hi” to all the children as they entered the cafeteria. She knew every child’s name by heart.

She could also be found frequently chauffeuring all of Anna’s friends around, whether it be to church or the bowling alley. She loved being right in the middle with all the teenagers, and was very affectionately considered a second mom to many.  She will be greatly missed.

Edie was an active member of Christian Valley Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mom, daughter, sister, and aunt. She cherished family gatherings and had an infectious smile and laugh. She was preceded in death by her dad, Gene Jones, and grandparents, Howard and Edith Turman.

Edie is survived by her husband, Larry Grayson of Jonesboro; daughter, Anna Grayson of Brookland; her mother, Theda Jones; her sister, Tammy Caples; her nephew, Taylor Caples; and her nieces, Morgan (Adam) Thrasher, Danea Hall, and Alissa (Brad) Scott.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 14th from 2:00 - 3:00pm at Emerson's Funeral Home in Jonesboro. The graveside service will follow at 3:30pm at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Taylor Caples, Adam Thrasher, Ray Rankin, Toy Morgan, Will Davidson, and Logan Harrison.
