Edgar "Sonny" Lyle Dean Jr.

Edgar Lyle “Sonny” Dean Jr, 87, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.  He had lived in Jonesboro for the past 19 years, moving here from Hot Springs Village.  He was of the Methodist belief. Sonny loved life and his family.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman which made for a lifetime of great memories for all of us. As with his infectious smile, he will be most remembered as a southern gentleman with movie star looks.  He will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his son, William Samuel Dean; parents, Edgar and Leta Broom Dean; sister, Mary Elizabeth Puryear (Neil).

Survivors include his life partner of twenty years, Vicki Strickland; son, Derek Dean (Blair); daughters, Mary K Caldwell; Lesa Love; Carrie Mathis (Mike); Julie Kelly (Chris) all of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 5-7 Monday night at Emerson Funeral Home.  All other services will be private under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.
