Edgar J “Boots” Hood, 89, of Millington, TN passed from this life on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born April 1, 1937, in Booneville, MS to the late William Edgar Hood and Willie Mae Hood.

Edgar has lived in Munford TN for 5 years, 14 months in Millington TN having previously lived in Aurora Illinois and Paragould Arkansas. He previously attended First Apostolic Church in Aurora IL, and attended Life Church in Paragould ARK, and The Apostolic of Drummonds TN.

He was a 32nd degree Freemason and enjoyed family, church, singing and playing guitar.

In addition to his parents, Edgar is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Brother Bill, Paul, Jerry, Don, and Sisters Lavelle(bitsy), Sarah (Coopie), Jeanne.

Survivors include his sons, Shaun Hood, James Hood, Nathan Hood, and Mark Hood; Grandchildren, John Wilder, Toedy, Elizabeth, Caleb and Devin; Great-Grandchildren, Nathan Travis, Lyric, Jack, Dixie, Shiloh and Trae; cousins, Doyle Hood and Leonard Hood

As well as other family members, Neya, Joy, Alaina, Theresa, Gary, Ricky, Gwen, Tina, Steve, Bradley, Donnie, Arty, Jeri (Punkin), Jeanette (Winky), Jimmy, Bonnie, Crystal,

Brenda, Janet, Dennis, Ronnie, Mary, Bonita, Carmen and Deanna.

A visitation will be held from 9-10 am on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 10:00 am. A private burial will follow the service at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould.
