Eddie S. Hoggard

January 8, 1933 — October 16, 2019

Eddie Samuel Hoggard, 86 years old, went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Eddie was born in Batesville, AR on January 8, 1933, to Edward and Mable Hoggard and joined his sister Norma to make a family of four. At age 12, Norma led Eddie to the Lord and that started his life long journey of faith in Christ. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1956 where he was in the Navy on the USS Noxubee.

In 1957, he met the love of his life, Joyce Randall, while they were attending Business College in Little Rock Arkansas. He knew immediately this was his future wife and two months after meeting they married on March 8, 1957. Eddie and Joyce were married for 62 years and had 4 children, Michael Hoggard, Debra Hoggard Stamp, Becky Hoggard Norsworthy, and Randy Hoggard.

The Hoggard’s were members of the First Baptist Church in Forrest City, Arkansas for over 52 years where Eddie taught a Jr Boys Sunday School Class. In 2013, Eddie and Joyce moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas and attended Central Baptist Church where they belonged to Eddie’s beloved Sunday School Class, Wisdom Seekers. He was known as a prayer warrior to his family and friends. After meeting his friend Butch Roberts through CBC, they prayed together each evening at 8:00 p.m.

In 1962, Eddie and Joyce opened Hoggard Office Products in Forrest City where it remained family-owned until 1999 when he retired.

Eddie loved to hunt, fish, play golf, and play tennis. After the Lord, he loved his family and spending time with them over all other activities. He is remembered by all who knew him and especially by all who loved him as funny, kind, caring, dedicated to exercise and fitness, and a little mischievous.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister. He is survived by the love of his life Joyce Randall Hoggard, his four children, and their spouses, Michael and Marla Hoggard, Debra and Tom Stamp, Becky and Tommy Norsworthy, and Randy and Leith Hoggard. He also leaves a lasting legacy for his seven grandchildren, Trenton and Lacy Hoggard, Anna and Taylor Kidwell, Tom and Ashlyn Norsworthy, Turner and Alex Norsworthy, Taylor Beck Norsworthy, Rebekah Hoggard, and Emma Hoggard. Along with three great-grandchildren and two more on their way. His guidance has influenced generations and our love and admiration for him are beyond expression.

Services will be held at Emerson Funeral Home on Friday, October 18th, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
