Earnesteen S. Allen, 81, of McKinney, Texas, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Medical Center of McKinney.
Born in Trumann, Earnesteen lived in Jonesboro several years before traveling internationally with her husband, Lyman C. Allen. Lyman was a civil engineer and his work took him to many foreign countries. While in Jonesboro, Earnesteen taught cosmetology and operated a beauty shop. She lived in Hugo, Oklahoma from 1975-2006 before moving to McKinney. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Plano, Texas.
While living in Hugo, Earnesteen was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and served on several church committees including building, finance and outreach. Earnesteen was a member of the Hugo Garden Club and the Helping Hands community service organization.
Earnesteen served on the Farm Bureau of Oklahoma Board of Directors and was preceded in death by her husband; a son: Larry Dewayne Allen; her parents: Thomas and Velmer Hamby Sullins; 4 brothers: Gordan Sullins, Virgil Sullins, James Howard Sullins, and Charles Sullins; and 1 sister: Ruby Knight.
Survivors include:
1 daughter and son-in-law: Debra and Randy Parker of Plano;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Dan and Thresea Allen of Van Alstyne, Texas;
1 brother: Jerry Sullins of Peoria, Illinois;
2 sisters: Inez Barker of Quinlin, Missouri, and Virginia Eddy of Fisk, Missouri;
A brother-in-law and his wife: Brooks and Sonja Griffith of Jonesboro;
7 grandchildren: Ashlea Davis, Benjamin Parker, Matthew Parker, Jennifer Parsons, Neely Allen, Daniel Allen and Mackenzie Allen;
4 great grandchildren: Baylea Davis, Jeremy Parsons, Jaden Parsons and Austin Chandler; and
Several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2009, at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jerry Carlisle, pastor of First Baptist Church in Plano, officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
Immediately following the committal service, there will fellowship at the home of Brooks and Sonja Griffith, 2116 Pool Cove, in Windwood, on Browns Lane in Jonesboro.
