Dylan Bowen

Our family had a blanket of darkness dropped over us on 5 Jan 2021 as our beloved Dylan Scott Bowen left us suddenly at his home in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. He was born on 15 Sep 1993 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Dylan grew up with the love of playing baseball and soccer. And as he grew up, he refined his character traits of being a caring, loving, self-motivated, hardworking young man.

Dylan graduated with the class of 2011 from Westside High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He then went to Black River Technical College to get training as an aviation maintenance technician. He joined the U. S. Navy in 2012 and was with them until Nov 2018.

He was stationed in Washington State and this is where he met his wife, Daria. They married in Oct 2019 and Dylan moved to her hometown in Mississippi to begin making a life for them there. Daria still had some time left to serve in the Navy. Dylan then went to work as a wildland firefighter at Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest-U.S. Forest Service and Jackson Hotshots. He then worked as an EMT in Mississippi.

Dylan was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George Bowen, his uncle Michael Bowen, his cousin, Spencer Gilbert, his grandmother, Ginny “Nanny” Freeman, and his aunt Angela Freeman Webb.

Left to celebrate precious memories of his life are his wife, Daria Bowen of the home, his parents, Brad and Marcia Freeman, his brother, Dakota (Colette) Freeman, his grandmother, Carolyn Bowen, his mother and father-in-law, Donna and David Emerson, sister-in-law, Lauren (David) Abernathy.

Aunts and Uncles: Michelle (Chris) Metcalf, Deven (Sandie) Gilbert, Rick (Trish) Medlock, Kathie (Nathan) Wheeless, Georgia (Tommy) Medlock, and Claire Depelteau.

Cousins: Brittany Gilbert, Joshua (Ashleigh) Baker…And many others.

Best friends: Trey (Mollie) Carter, Clifford (Maegan) Garey, Tim (Kendra) Williams, and John (Courtney) McGuire…. And many other friends.

MISSISSIPPI INFORMATION - Dylan’s celebration of life will be on 15 Jan 2021 at Crossway Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Family visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm. Public visitation will be from 12-1 pm. Funeral services will be held from 1-2 pm.

JONESBORO, ARKANSAS INFORMATION - Dylan’s celebration of life will be on Saturday, 16 Jan 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 12-1 pm for family and 1-3 pm for the public. Masks will be required during inside services. A graveside service is scheduled to follow at 3:30 pm (IF visitation is over) with Pastor Joe Guthrie officiating at Pine Hill Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Pallbearers will be: Dakota Freeman, Joshua Baker, Dathan Cooper, David Emerson, Trey Carter, and Clifford Garey. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Tim Williams, John McGuire, David Abernathy, Westside High School 2011 soccer team, Combat Air Crew 4.

The Westside High School class of 2011 is planning a balloon release at the Westside High School parking lot at 5:30 on 16 Jan 2021 following the funeral.
