Dwight R. Holder, 72, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas passed away Monday March 30, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Gary, Indiana on September 10, 1942 to the late Dexter and Vera Golden Holder. Dwight had moved to Arkansas in 1990, moving here from Savannah, Georgia. He was a carpenter by trade and of the protestant belief. He was a U.S. Vietnam Army Veteran and later joined the Marines. He was Sergeant of Arms for the American Legion Post #336. Dwight loved gardening but his true passion was sailing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Roger, Bobby and Gary Holder.
Survived by his son; Scott A. Holder of Merrillville, Indiana.
Daughters; Denise R. Niecey Holder of Hammond, Indiana and Kristi R. Holder +Underwood of Brownsburg, Indiana.
Brother; Grant Holder of Lake Station, Indiana.
Sisters; Cynthia Yanez of Sun City, Arizona, Sharon K. Holder of Glendale, Arizona and Phyllis Phipps of Sun City, Arizona.
5 grandchildren; Frances Avila, Charles Gilarski Jr., Megan Underwood, Wyatt Goetz and Emma Underwood.
One great granddaughter; Lilyan Avila and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
All services will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
