Dwight Raymond Espensen

Dwight Raymond Espensen, 78, of Jonesboro, formerly of Houston, Texas, departed this life on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born May 23, 1947, in McAllen, Texas, to the late Lawrence Espensen and Marion Sheenan Adkins.

Of the Catholic faith, Dwight lived a full and adventurous life, becoming a Registered Nurse later in life, saving countless lives in emergency rooms across the United States. He was an accomplished pilot both helicopters and airplanes and held a deep passion for exploration and learning. A man of great intelligence, he also enjoyed scuba diving, skiing, captaining a yacht, and riding motorcycles. His greatest accomplishments were always his girls.

Dwight is survived by his three daughters, Kassie Espensen of Jonesboro; Kortnie Espensen Bean (Scott) of Houston, Texas; and Kirsten (Matt) Hudak of Texas; two brothers, Terry Espensen (Carol) and Michael Espensen, both of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Kelly Espensen of McAllen, Texas, and Sherri Staha (Bobby) of Schulenburg, Texas. He also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren, Austin Bean, Victoria Bean, and Olivia Hudak; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends who will miss his wisdom, and wit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vicky Espensen.
