Duane Burleson, 63, of Jonesboro, died September 18, 2012 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born in Malden, Missouri but had spent much of his life in Jonesboro. He was a longtime employee of Hedger Brothers and was a mechanic. He loved gardening, fishing, reading “Readers Digest”, and camping. Duane especially loved being “Papa” to his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky Burleson, Thayer, Missouri; a son, David Burleson, Jonesboro; a daughter, Susan Burleson, Sherwood; his granddaughter, Carlee Burleson; his mother, Berniece Burleson and his brother, Galen Burleson, both of Jonesboro; his sister, Karen Fletcher, North Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmon Carl Burleson; and a brother, Mike Burleson.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 21, 2012 at Emerson Memorial Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Jimmy Young officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Nettleton Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Serving as active pallbearers are David Burleson, T.J. Fletcher, Jimmy Woodward, Kenny Kelley, John Turner, and Randy Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Galen Burleson, Aldon Philpot, Jack McCann, Dusty Carter, Dewon Carter, and Todd Puckett.
Visitation will be Friday 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
