Dr. Gary Dale Hanners, 68, of Jonesboro died Friday April 15, 2011, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.

Gary was born September 16, 1942 in Leachville. He graduated from Leachville High School before he received his Bachelors and one of his Masters degrees from Arizona State University, then he completed another Masters degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Memphis State University. He lived in Little Rock from 1968 to 1971 before moving to Jonesboro where he lived much of his life.

Gary was a talented pianist and was a member of the Baptist church.

Gary worked several years for the George W. Jackson Mental Health Center in Jonesboro. He also served as a Human Services Consultant for the State of Arkansas before retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Emma Hanners.

Survivors include two cousins, Larry and his wife Kathy Winberry of Piggott and Alan and his wife Linda Winberry of Salem along with many other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Alan Winberry officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

There will be no visitation.
