Troy Alan Vines, 72, went peacefully to be with Jesus on November 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Troy was born on November 5, 1953, in Newport, Arkansas. He graduated from Grubbs High School, attended Arkansas State University, followed by UAMS School of Pharmacy. After 5 years as a pharmacist, he attended UAMS School of Medicine. He practiced medicine in Jonesboro for 40 years before retiring. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and for truly caring for each patient. While he enjoyed his medical practice, his main focus was on serving God by glorifying him through teaching, counseling, and serving as an elder at Southwest Church and Compass Church for many years. He was an author of two spiritual books that encouraged others to believe in the true existence of God, and presented ways to discern the gospel to have maximum joy.

He was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, service to others, humility, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon, and their children, Amy (Michael) Shumate, and Eric (Kelsey) Vines; four grandchildren, Hayden Shumate, Halle Shumate, Elwood “Woody” Vines, and George Vines; brother Alvin (Sandy) Vines; nephews Chris (Jessica) Vines and Shea Vines, and niece Patrice (Brian) Anschultz; and brother-in-law, Billy Woodruff (Marg). He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Vines, and his parents, Elwood and Pauline Vines.

The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. until time for services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Emerson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Dr. Randy Carlton, Dr. Doug Maglothin, Dr. Craig McDaniel, Roger Sutherland, Chris Vines, and Shea Vines. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Woodruff, Jack Sharp, Marty Felts, Steve Ewart, Randy Dent, Dwayne Powell, Hugh Dority, Billy Holland, David Veara, John McKeel, and Buddy Powell.

In Lieu of flowers, he asked that any contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
