Dr. Ruloff “Rudy” Turner, 53, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday February 24, 2018 at St. Bernard Medical Center. He was born October 13, 1964 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Ruloff “Sunny” Turner III and Nancy Cobb Turner.
Rudy was a graduate of Coahoma County High School, Clarksdale, MS. Attended Mississippi State University, Starkville, Mississippi. Worked for Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL then joined the US Navy. Graduated from Delta State University, Cleveland Mississippi where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Also served in the Mississippi National Guard. He received his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. His residency training included hospitals in Detroit, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; Dayton, Ohio and Tupelo, Mississippi.
Rudy’s career included family practice clinics in Fordyce, Arkansas and Monticello, Arkansas. He was a physician for the Arkansas Correctional Facilities. He staffed many Emergency Departments in Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri, most recently Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc and Iuka, Mississippi.
Rudy lived life to the fullest with a wide range of interests and hobbies. He especially loved hunting, fishing, boats and cars. His active life included a lot of travel. He was involved in the community including Rotary and volunteering with local schools. He was a member of the Masons and was Worshipful Master with Eureka Lodge Monticello, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Laura Jameson Turner; three daughters Elizabeth Christine Turner, Diana Suzanne Turner and Victoria Catherine Turner of the home. His parents Ruloff and Nancy Turner of Tutwiler, Mississippi; two sisters Michelle Jacobson of the San Joaquin Valley, CA and Leslie Turner of Tutwiler, Mississippi; In-Laws, Bill and Nancy Jameson of Beckley, West Virginia; Brothers-In-Law, Dr. Kent Jameson and wife Ann of Union, West Virginia and Jeffrey Jameson and wife Helen of Beaver, West Virginia; nephews, Tyler Jameson of Oakland, California and Nick Jameson of Arlington, Virginia; nieces, Rachelle Parmelee of Italy and Caroline Jameson of Washington D.C.
A memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Friday, March 2, 2018, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Reverend Patty Soward officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until service time on Friday. Burial will be private
