Dr. Rodney Floyd Carmack, 67, born on October 4, 1956, in Kennett, Missouri, left this world on February 20, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved son of William Q. and Hettie Carmack.

Rodney's professional journey was marked by dedication and expertise. For 20 years, he served as an accountant for Anheuser Busch in Jonesboro, displaying a commitment that earned him the respect of colleagues and friends.  For a young man who was from the bootheel of Missouri and an avid Cardinals fan, this was a dream job. Later, he transitioned into academia, becoming an esteemed accounting professor at Arkansas State University, where he shared his knowledge and passion with students for 13 years. Rodney's educational journey included graduating from Kennett High School, obtaining his bachelor's and MBA from Arkansas State University, and achieving his DBA at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Beyond his professional achievements, Rodney found joy in various hobbies. Camping, woodworking, tending to his yard, and lively tailgates with the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Arkansas State football games. However, his greatest joy was spending quality time with his family, with a special fondness for his beloved grandson, Quinton.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jamie Carmack, their children, William Andrew "Drew" Carmack and Victoria "Tori" Lynn Carmack, and his grandson, Quinton Carmack. In addition to his immediate family, Rodney is survived by his family by choice, Matt and Tracy Fleetwood with their children, Logan, Kayelynn, and Andrew Fleetwood. One sister June Masters, 1 brother Bryan Carmack, and many more nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Rodney will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Emerson Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 10:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for lasting memorial to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
