Dr. Raymond Joseph Gazik

Raymond Joseph Gazik, 73, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Homestead, PA, on May 28, 1939, to the late Joe and Alice Gazik, Ray grew up in Tucson, AZ, earned his BS at the University of Hawaii, his Master's and PhD. in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Alice Gazik. Survivors include his daughter, Ginger Gazik Ashford, her husband, Mike, granddaughters Abigail and Sophia Ashford of Parkville, MO, numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends including Bill Reed, Debbie Burton and Kathy Brown.

Ray was employed by Arkansas State University from 1967 until he retired in 1998. He was a Professor of Mathematics, and served on several college-wide committees.

He was a member of Trinity Church, and led several area Bible study fellowships. Ray was also an ordained pastor for the Christian Church, and served as an interim pastor for various churches in Arkansas.

Ray had a great sense of humor, enjoyed playing chess, wearing Hawaiian shirts, and was happiest witnessing to others about Jesus Christ. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be Saturday, November 24, at 2 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro.Steve Farmer officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
