Dr. Percy Hayes Stephen Jr., 91, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at the NEA Hospital. Percy was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on February 20, 1927, to the late Percy and Ethel Miskelley Stephen Sr. Percy lived in Jonesboro, was a retired Professor of Economics and Statistics at the Mississippi Delta Community College for 36 years, U.S. WWII Army Veteran and a member of the Mt. Carmel Methodist Church. Percy also worked as a volunteer for St. Bernard’s, Food Pantry, and the Nature Center. Percy was also a Past member of the Master Gardner’s Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Stephen Sr.
Survived by his niece, Mary Stubbs (George) of Trumann.
Nephew, James Stephen Jr. (Sarah) of Jackson, Mississippi.
7 great nieces and nephews and 9 great- great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, Mississippi. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood, Mississippi. Emerson Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
