Dr. Laura J. Layton

Dr. Laura J. Layton 42, of Jonesboro died Saturday November 23, 2013 at her residence. Laura was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany on August 5, 1971 to the late Henry and Anneliese Gerhard Helms. She had lived in Jonesboro for 16 years and was of the Lutheran belief.

She grew up in Clarksville, Tennessee. She attended Austin Peay State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1997 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Laura was an Optometric Physician and co-owner of Layton Eye Clinic, P.A. in Jonesboro.

Laura was the loving wife to E. Kye Layton, O.D. (of the home) and devoted mother to Ella Anneliese (of the home).

Brothers: Jerry Helms and Kenny Helms both of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Sister: Linda Guinn of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday November 26, 2013 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M. Monday November 25, 2013 at Emerson Funeral Home.
