Dr. Larry Dale, 61 of Jonesboro died Monday, April 18, 2011, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Larry was born on August 31, 1949 in Washington D.C., and he earned his Bachelor Degree from Cal Poly University in California. He received his Master and Doctorate in Economics from The Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He taught at Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, MO, West Texas State A&M in Canyon, TX, before moving to Arkansas State University. He taught Economics from 1986 through 2009 until his retirement. He conducted workshops for the public school teachers in the summers and taught Saturday Scholars for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Larry’s passion for teaching was evident throughout his career.

Survivors include his parents Leo and Lillie Dale of Jonesboro, a sister; Lynn and her husband Willie Freeman of Irwin, Pennsylvania, two nephews; Warren Freeman of New York and Darin Freeman of Pittsburg.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7pm at Emerson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Friday 10 a.m. at the Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Pastor Mike Martin officiating. Burial will be Private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry’s Sunday School Class at Central Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be given to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 4002 Jonesboro, AR 72403, or Central Baptist Missions fund, 3707 Harrisburg Road Jonesboro, AR 72404, in memory of Dr. Larry Dale.
