Dr. James A. Hutchison, 85, of Jonesboro passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
James was born in Salina, KS on January 28, 1930 to the late Harry and Edith Hutchison. After High School he joined the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. After the War he went on to earn his Doctoral Degree from the University of Kansas. He taught for two years at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas before moving to Jonesboro. He taught in the Science Department at Arkansas State University for 27 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sallye Hutchison; two sons, Barry Hutchison and his wife Gail and Brent Hutchison and his wife Jodi; four grandchildren, Brennah, Kelsea, Cody, and Kendall Hutchison all of Jonesboro; one sister, JoAnn Veltman and her husband Ken of Salina, KS; and a host of other family and friends.
A Memorial service will be at 10am Friday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Laird Duran officiating. Interment will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of the Arkansas State University Science Department.
A brief visitation will be directly following the service and will last until 11:15am.
