Doyle Lewallen

March 30, 1940 — January 27, 2019

Robert Doyle Lewallen, 78, of Jonesboro, passed away on January 27, 2019. Doyle served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962 and served as a deacon of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and more recently First Baptist Church. He worked for Thermogas/Mapco for over thirty-five years and served as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America for over ten years. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed growing a huge garden, hunting, fishing, and wood-working, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was preceded in death by sisters Gladys Gould and Altha Mae Hoggard.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Billie Lewallen; three children, Lori Eddington (Paul) of Orlando, Florida, Cindy Baltz of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jason Lewallen (Susan) of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Gipson, and a brother, Lewis Lewallen, both of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Tuesday, January 29, 2018 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Muckenstrum and Arliss Dickerson officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Pallbearers are Terry Massey, Blake Williams, Michael Gipson, Phillip Gipson, Trent Doty and Paul Eddington.  Burial will be private with only the immediate family.  Visitation will be from 1-2:00 Tuesday prior to the service.
